Renting party gear for a weekend
Party gear is perfect for short-term hire because it is usually needed for one date. A backyard birthday, engagement, school fundraiser, garage party or family lunch might need tables, chairs, lighting, shade or a speaker, but not enough to justify buying everything.
Start with the event layout
Work out guest numbers, available space, weather risk and access before messaging owners. A gazebo that looks suitable online may need more pegging space than your yard allows. Folding tables may not fit in a small car. Speakers may need power within reach.
Ask what is included
For gazebos, check walls, ropes, pegs, weights, bags and setup instructions. For speakers and lights, ask about stands, cables, Bluetooth, batteries, microphones and volume limits. For tables and chairs, confirm quantity, dimensions and whether they fold.
Weekend timing needs clarity
Many events finish late, so return timing matters. Agree whether return is same night, next morning or Monday. If the owner needs the gear for another booking, late return could cause a real problem.
Keep weather in mind
Rain, wind and mud can damage event gear. Ask what use is acceptable, keep electrical items dry and return everything clean. Owners should be clear about outdoor limits before the hire starts.
